The abuse of diplomatic privileges and immunities

Abstract

The article deals with an area of diplomacy that appears to be one of the most controversial, namely with privileges and immunities, as well as the question of their possible abuse. The goal is to assess the change in the perception of this term and to analyze through cases the extent of the abuse of privileges and immunities and the mechanisms that are used to limit abuse. The article includes an argumentation about the lack of homogeneity in the mechanisms, that follow the abuse of privileges and immunities, as well as a cross-section of diverse media-reported cases of abuse of privileges and immunities, with an emphasis on the diversity of cases based on their geographical context and issues of fact.
