Abstract
The recodification of Czech private law brought about fundamental conceptual changes, new rules, new and old-new terminology and institutes. One of the changes introduced in the new Civil Code, Act No. 89/2012 Coll., is the complete regulation concerning the law of succession, where, among other things, the inheritance treaty was re-introduced as the hierarchically strongest succession title respecting to the widest extent. The article will deal with the succession contract, its essence, conditions for its conclusion, practicality, but also the pitfalls that may arise in practice due to its use.
