Abstract

The literature on Roma law is almost non-existent in our circumstances, despite the fact that this traditional legal system that exists amidst the Western world, in parallel with state laws. There is an unwritten law in every culture – commands and prohibitions that are understood and passed on to future generations. The present article deals with the clash of folklore and jurisprudence, examines the historical significance and implications of traditional Romani law, its enduring impact on the world, and the conflicts that arise when unwritten law differs from state law.
