Abstract
In May this year (2019) the European legislative authorities have passed a new consumer directive No. 2019/701, which regulates some contracts for the sale of goods. In the Slovak legal order, this type of transaction has a legal basis in the Civil Code as its special subtype – the sale of goods in a store. As the member states of the European union are obliged to transpose this directive into their respective legal systems within the next two years, there is reason to assume that the Directive on the sale of goods will trigger further amendments to the Civil Code.
