Europe Without Barriers – Disability Rights in the European Union

Abstract

As the European Commission states in its European Disability Strategy 2010-2020, it is crucial to build an inclusive society that does not turn its back on anyone. Disabled persons are often prevented from taking full part in the society and the economy because of environmental and attitudinal barriers. This article reflects on the legal protection of persons with disabilities in the European Union.
