Abstract
The work is concerned with the issue of the interest of a minor child in historical and legal contexts, then focuses on the understanding of the concept of “best interests of the child” in the Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted by the United Nations in 1989, and finally examines the extent to which the concept of “interest of a minor child” in Slovakia´s Act No. 36/2005 Coll. on the Family, as amended, corresponds to the concept in the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
