UNHCR’s competence in the field of protection of environmentally displaced persons

Abstract

The article aims to clarify international legal terminology, the protection of environmentally displaced persons, and UNHCR’s role in responding to the impacts of climate change. This is a topic that is not under scrutiny by the legal community at large, but rather is of marginal interest to scholars on current trends in refugee law. Also, the supporting basis of the article is the definition and classification of the term environmental refugee, its status and perception within the framework of international law.
